Carol:
I just spent some time reading these...a very depressing picture indeed.
One teacher referred to "CP" in the classroom. Corporal punishment? It's
okay to hit kids in the classroom? Please tell me I misunderstood.

Dear ARNers,
If you have a few minutes your help is needed and appreciated. The Texas
teacher chatboard is a pretty good barometer for how things are going in
our schools here. They are dismayed, angry, and horrified at the new
testing requirements. Their voices are loud and clear. Some are
interested in organizing but they all need encouragement and support.
Please take the time to go there and let them know they are not alone.
And let them know that collectively they can be powerful.
Please do this. Texas is the model for the country. If you can't do this
and your state's schools go to test-preppin' pot, don't come crying to
me. ;-)
Thank you.
