Interesting. Our oldest daughter, who was reading independently and well
beyond her supposed age-based reading level by the time she was 4, went
through a stage where she did just the same. She had several books
memorized and would "read" along with me, even correcting me if I misread
a word!

Our second daughter, who was much slower to read independently, never (as
far as I know) went through this stage.

Both girls are avid readers. They learned differently and with different
degrees of difficulty, but both learned in the same environment.

You're right, though. The environment my family creates will not work for
all kids. That's the point! *Anybody* who tells you their program works
for all kids is selling you (and your kids) the Brooklyn Bridge. Kids
learn at different rates, through different means, and all we gotta do is
support them in their quest.
