"not necessary" (but helpful) to have some experience with the field
to which you will dictate programs, policies and materials (oops ...
I guess no one has to *buy* McGraw Hill products, so perhaps the word
"dictate" is overstated, though one could argue that the competition
offers no better). Having worked as a consultant with this firm in
the past, I can attest to the degree of faith it places (or, more
correctly, fails to place) in the advice it receives from people it
hires to provide such advice and who have actual work experience in
K-12 teaching. Might as well keep the same policy in place from the
top down. I doubt very much if this new Director of Learning
Standards will be able to infiltrate much of anything.
