Why Americans Educate Their Children Better Than We Do

Are China's educational methods inferior to those
practiced in the United States?

Not sure I agree completely, Billee. There is a limitation to rote learning
as you well know, but it seems the Japanese who now work 16 hours a day and
are having considerably less time for sex according to several recent reports
have mastered the art of imitation and now Toyota has replaced GM. For what
it's worth, a system that stresses rote learning may induce rebellion and
makes certain members think more creatively and outside the box. In contrast,
a system which prides itself on challenging authority and dissing tradition
and now produced a generation of pressurized conformists. It would seem the
truth lies somewhere in the middle, and we should neither generalize or
exaggerate. Politicians, American and Chinese, will use "data" to support whatever
serves their purpose best. And sometime, reform is anything by reform.
Witness NCLB.

Good points, Quan.
