Attached is my op-ed length piece on the upcoming 25th anniversary of A Nation At Risk posted today on the Huffington Post..

As noted therein, the April Kappan has a number of articles looking back and also contains my own longer takeon the 20th anniversay, the April 2003 issue.

More important than any of this, I think, are the three articles in the same Kappan on education in and for a democracy. As with the brief statement I reported from Finn and Ravitch ("we were wrong"), I think these articles signal statements of hope. I suspect that because of Kappan deadlines, these articles were written before Barack Obama became so popular as a harbinger of hope. If so, they are even more hopeful. We might yet end the dark night of NCLB and associated atrocities.
