I assuredly was not arguing for Clinton (not that you say I was) or therefore
Gore or similar right wing Dems. We have the same deal here in Mass, where
the most powerful politician in the state is House Speaker Finneran, who got
elected by allying with the Republicans against the liberal Dem faction -- of
whom really only about half a dozen were even progressives anyway. And I am
also appalled at the energy of leftists/progressives spent on campaigns of
right wing Dems on the lesser evil theory, none of which contributes to
helping to build even moderate reformism, never mind serious change, and in
fact helps reinforce the sense of hopelessness and cynicism that I think is
so pervasive in the US. Yes, this helps ensure the rule of tests in schools.
