Doug, As a school board member in California - where we now have standardized tests - I tried last year to take the test. I got shifted around the Department of Education so many times I finally gave up. I'm just going to start earlier this year because I really do want to see what's on the test. My district is a k-8 so I wanted to take the 8th grade test. And I am fully prepared to "fail" the test because I know how much more we ask of kids today than we did when I was in 8th grade (back in the age of "the best schools ever." And I haven't taken any kind of test (except driver's) since I left school. In California, it is not a matter of the "school board" directing our district to use the abominations, we are required to do so by the state.
