Some interesting news from this neck of the woods. Daniel Domenech, Superintendent of Fairfax County, VA, the 12th largest school district in the country, just resigned effective March something to take a job with McGraw Hill in NY to sell textbooks to urban districts.
In his press conference he expressed the need for changes in NCLB, noting that even as good as the Fairfax County school system is, there are schools that will not make AYP. He thought there needed to be changes in the fact that ESOL students had to be tested so early after entering the school system and that special ed. should not have to take the NCLB tests unless they were consistent with the IEP.
