Fixing Failing Schools: Is the NCLB Toolkit Working?


It has been five years since NCLB was signed into law. On November 30, the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research (AEI) held an all-day conference called "Fixing Failing Schools: Is the NCLB Toolkit Working?" The conference was intended as a comprehensive assessment of the law's implementation and remedy provisions as its reauthorization deadline approaches.

At the end of the conference it was clear that NCLB's results are mixed. Diane Ravitch reiterated that "five years after signing this bill into law is just not enough time to really examine the law and its effects on students and learning.only time will tell." More...
