"Let me repeat: No one-size-fits-all measures; no standardized tests. All I ask is that institutions be more clear about the benefits they offer to students. Through the accrediting process, we can help bring this about."

Not a bad idea for schools (MassCARE and Mass Teacher Assn ideas are similar to accreditation as part of its accountability proposals). (see http://www.fairtest.org/care/accountability.html).

But who said that? Why Secretary Spellings, but about colleges, retreating from her rather more pro-test and standardization approach after being chastised by Congress. Cited in a Chronicle of Higher Ed article http://chronicle.com/daily/2007/12/1036n.htm but only available to subscribers and payers.
