Re: Unequal Protection
The Boston Tea Party was a "revolt against transnational corporate
domination of the early American economy?" It didn't have anything to
do with the taxation of the colonies by the British government without
the consent of the colonists? This is a novel view, to say the least
and I think it is safe to say that this interpretation of the Tea Party
would not have occurred to Gordon Wood. Beyond that, I don't know how
to break the news to you and Hartmann, but liberty and private
ownership were indissolubly linked in the minds of the revolutionary
generation. It's always full speed ahead on the ARN paranoia highway.
In any event, I suppose your anti-corporation agenda means that you
will not be inviting the Milton Friedman Choir to your New Year's Eve
Party.

Subject: [arn-l] Unequal Protection
As ARN explores the neo-con agenda of privatization, not something
exclusive to
the Bush administration, folk ought to become a little familiar with
Thomas
Hartmann's book, Unequal Protection. Hartmann's web address is
http://www.thomhartmann.com/. You can go directly to info about the
book at
http://www.thomhartmann.com/unequalprotection/. Here’s part of the
intro at
Hartmann’s web page about the book: “In Unequal Protection, author Thom
Hartmann
tells a compelling, can't-put-it-down story that tracks the history of
the loss
of democracy in America. It starts with the birth of the modern
corporation with
the founding of the East India Company in 1600, through the Boston Tea
Party
revolt against transnational corporate domination of the early American
economy,
the rise of corporations during the Civil War, the ultimate theft of
human
rights before the Supreme Court in 1886, and into the modern-day theft
of human
rights in the US and worldwide by corporate interests and the
politicians they own.”
Thanks.
