Re: Obama Said to Choose Arne Duncan
Well, Art...onw wouldn't sell out AFTER one wins the election, would one?
Besides, the trouble w/politics in this country is precisely that it has
nothing to do w/candidates, as my quoted disquisitions went on to
explain--so, once again, you missed the point and came up short of
sense...politics in these USofA has to do w/Corporate power, the
Corporate Citizen (the pantheon of post-modern Olympians) has
disenfranchised we citizens born of a mother's womb, especially after
the Supreme Court ruled that money talks and bullshit walks under the
Roosevelt tenure...that is: cash money (a la political donation) IS free
speech and BOTH are fungible.
Besides, who asked YOU, anywhom? ... ;-} rap.

Mr. Obama has not been sworn in yet and you're dismissing him as a tool of the establishment, if not the second coming of George Bush? No, thanks.

Ah, yes, friend Brian...and such a sensitive history teacher as you must
also see the sense in these observations of the American Body Politik,
as well?:
John Pilger (Australian journalist, documentary film-maker, and blogger)
very accurately wrote "US presidential campaigns...... are a ritual
dance macabre of flags, balloons and bullshit, designed to camouflage a
venal system
based on money power, human division and a culture of permanent war".

AND from a friend, Ahmed Kabel, sharing on the LNC (Language in the New
Capitalism list) had it:
*Let us please not forget that Obama is a great product of the media and
public relations industry. Why? Because he is their man. And it is
really silly that almost everything that was said about him has to do
his character, his eloquence, big smiles, style and so on. Where are the
real issues? Of course if you can market a candy bar, you can
equally market a candidate. So discussions revolve around irrelevancies;
important issues are buried in the clutter of the personali
ty cult. I am
sorry to say that insisting on the racial implications of Nader's
statement (i.e., that Obama is nothing but a *House Nigger*) and
ignoring its substance is just another example of this. Keep in mind
that Obama is very often compared to white folks of the likes
of Kennedy, Reagan, Clinton, Blair, but certainly not to King or Malcolm
X. Take Kennedy. It is interesting that he was also a creation of the
media and was also hailed as the man of change and hope. This was the
guy who invaded South Vietnam and visited hell on the Cubans and paved
the way for the takeover of Brazil by a despicable ditatorship. Change
and hope turned out to be mere slogans.*
...Continuing...
*Now how about Obama? Let us see what kind of change and hope he has in
mind. Mr. Obama has no intention to change the militaristic character of
American foreign policy. Indeed, he wants to increase military spending,
reserves, invest in counterinsurgency warfare, develop military
technologies and so forth. Where is the change? The military-industrial
complex should be rubbing their hands with glee. Nor is he intent on
changing the doctrine of protecting US interests by force if need
be. Where is international law and the UN? complete disregard. He talks
about a hazy plan of withdrawal from Iraq, but in reality that is a
redeployment of troops to Afghanistan where the core of his policy is to
bomb and carry out commando operations in the tribal are
as inside
Pakistan. Joe Biden is committed to the Balkanization of Iraq, with the
intention of establishing military bases and a protectorate in the
oil-rich Kurdistan. Not a word is said on lifting the shameful embargo
on Cuba. Re Iran, military options are always on the table.
Unconditional support for Israel is no doubt on top of his
agenda. Incidentally, his right hand Rahm Immanuel is the Likud
embassador in the White House, served in the Israeli army and is the son
of a terrorist responsible for the massacring of Palestinians! Change?*
WhaddyThink, Brian? George Schmidt?
Best of the Advent Season to you all, Folks... ;-} rap.
