Two essential new resources from Mary Barr
Mary Barr and her colleagues at the Center for Language and Learning
have just produced two important new resources on assessment.
Available in two volumes--one for grades K-6 and the other for grades
6-12--Assessing Literacy Through the Learning Record integrates
classroom evaluation, professional development, research on teaching
and learning, and large-scale assessment of student achievement and
performance.
To order your copy at a 10% discount or for more information, visit
Heinemann's website: www.heinemann.com.
A note from Monty: the Learning Record is one of if not the single best
assessment process (instrument and procedures) available for language
development (reading, writing, speaking, listening). I strongly encourage
people to check it out. You can also go to the website for the Center for
Language and Learning (www.learningrecord.org/lr.org), and there are articles
about the Learning Record on the FT website from past issues of the FairTest
Examiner (see also California Learning Record and Primary Language Record) --
our website is www.fairtest.org.
