Hello Colleagues:

As the test season begins again, journalists and concerned citizens all over
the United States receive interesting materials in plain brown wrappers. Our
first duty as editors and reporters is to establish the authenticity of the
documents, since there are many humorists who now are doing parodies of crazy
tests and crazier test items from this age of "Standards and Accountability."

Since I have not been inside a Chicago high school in six months, I really
wasn't there when the Chicago Academic Standards Examinstions (CASE) were
given to about 90,000 students three weeks ago. And the Chicago Board of
Education won't confirm or deny that the following, allegedly from their
"World Studies" test for first semester this year, was actually asked...

Therefore, I hope someone here can answer the following question for me:

>From the NOTCASE NOTWORLDSTUDIES NOT TEST NOT GIVEN IN CHICAGO on January 11
and January 12, 2001...

4. Answer EITHER A or B.

A) Northern Europe is a large flat plain. Discuss ONE way that this plain has
affected the history of Europe.

OR

B) Identify ONE geographical reason why Great Britain was the leading nation
during the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. Explain why this factor
was important.

(CIRCLE THE LETTER OF THE QUESTION YOU ARE ANSWERING)
