That's misleading math. A one point increase out of one hundred
is indeed 1 cent. But out of a 9 point base, that's more like a
dime. And if half of the tax is for education, that's 1 point out
of four, or more like a quarter, nearly the amount that a recent
commission determined will guarantee that every student will
pass the WASL regardless of race, income, language, or ability.

Most of the money is targeted towards standards based reform =
WASL testing and teaching, i.e. a total waste.
