Regarding this article, I found it a little disingenuous for the teacher
writing it to say that she changed to a private school because of SOL testing and
the harm it did to her students and then say she is working at a private
school that itself requires testing before one is admitted there
Grades K-2: must submit WPPSI-R (Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of
Intelligence-Revised) scores. Please contact an independent licensed psychologist
to have the test administered. The ACDS Admissions Office can provide a list
of test centers.
Grades 3-4: must complete testing administered at ACDS during Saturday
testing dates (February 1 and February 22).
Grades 5-8: must submit ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination)
scores. ACDS will administer ISEE on both February testing dates. ISEE scores from
another testing site will also be accepted. Arrange with the ERB to have the
scores reported directly to ACDS. If you would like more information about the
ISEE, please contact the Admissions Office.
The tuition here is $13,300. Probably way more thanmost of the students at
her former school Mt Vernon could afford---most of the "big homes on the
Potomac" already send their kids to private school if they didn't get into TJ. (Fx
County HS for the highly accomplished)
Also irksome to me is that the article was right in the midst of a big
multipaged info/advertisment on private schools
