Commission to Release Final Recommendations for Reauthorization
Report Focuses on How to Improve NCLB

Washington, DC---Today former Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson and former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes, Co-Chairs of the Commission on No Child Left Behind, announced that the Commission will release its final recommendations for the reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act. The release will take place on Tuesday, February 13th at 9:30 AM EST and will be held at the Caucus room (Room 325) at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, DC.

The Commission on No Child Left Behind is an independent, bipartisan effort to improve the No Child Left Behind Act and ensure it is a more useful force in closing the achievement gap that separates disadvantaged children and their peers. The Commission has uncovered the successes of NCLB, as well as provisions which need to be changed or significantly modified. The Commission, after a year of hearings, analysis and research is set to report its recommendations to Congress and the Administration.
