Happy to report that the Bd of directors of our State Union (NEA state
affiliate), support my resolution that we have a belief that NCLB is not
working to achieve educational excellence, and my NBI that HSTA inform its
members that AYP as a measure of school and teacher quality is flawed. The
resolution was unanimous and the NBI had one in opposition (don't know why
except that he said AYP has never been about judging teacher quality). I was
surprised that I didn't get more opposition, given that so many had argued
against me at a previous meeting.

What this all means, I hope, is that we will eventually put some of our dues
money into shedding the light of truth on what NCLB has done to the schools.
Perhaps it will lead to more and more teachers and parents speaking up and
taking back their schools.
