What bothers me--is that the democrats sound like Republicans and the
Republicans like the democrats on the Linda thing. Linda has done a lot of
things to warrant scrutiny and opposition. Her history with US English
exposes ugliness of her Linguicism and anti-immigrant sentiment. Why do we
have to stoop to anti-immigrant sentiment, scary stories about "illegal
immigrants," and xenophobic paranoia? I want her out as bad as the rest of
the labor community, but I am somewhat disappointed at the tactics. Wasn't
the ugliness of Proposition 187 and Proposition 227 enough?
