Washington's state board is elected by local school board members. I'm not
sure anyone bothers to tell them anything. I take that back, I think they
have presentation notes on their website-- as does our A+ commission. The
notes are self incriminating, by far in favor of dumping or thoroughly
changing the intended use of the WASL, but nobody seems to care. A+ is
governor appointed. They do a lot of squabbling and then the state
superintendent who sits on the A+ (I think literally) gets her way. I guess
they think the whole education world is blind to their politics. Seems like
more than just bad drivers has migrated up the coast. (no offense to
California drivers.)
