And haven't we just seen stark evidence of that in Afghanistan?  We can talk
all we want about the "majority" religion but it seems to me that a lot of
the reason that a Jew can live next door to a Muslim in this country is that
both are free to practice their religion without interference from the
government...and people tell themselves that what has happened in Iran and
Afghanistan would never happen here IF we blurred the line between church
and state - just a little ( kind of like being a little bit pregnant,
right?), I just don't trust that so I feel much safer in the practice of my
religion because there is no state religion...
