Re: reporter comments on 'rigor'



Susan,

I finally had a chance to read this - great and it reminded me of
something Frank McCourt said at the School Boards conference in Ca. this
December...he gave a very funny speech about being a teacher in New York
but the one thing he said that struck home was that "we must not like
our children very much" - because we NEVER EVER leave them alone and
because we are turning school into a forced march!

I think Robert Koehler would agree, don't you?

I'm really pleased to see this evidence that reporters are finding my
website. This one does a very good job. He certainly takes a different
message from rigor when talking about his daughter than does, say, Jay
M. when talking about his.
