Principal was telling me about the "Job Corps" she started in her
elementary school. Posts a list of jobs. Kids have to apply. Have to
get two letters of support from adults in the school. Kids send in
their app. Principal sees the kids in the hall and says, "Have you
heard anything yet? I hope you get it." A few days go by. Expectancy
mounts. Principal sends kid a letter of congratulations that he or she
got the job. Every job is important. Every kid is successful. One
heck of a principal.

I reckon more attention is generally a good thing, maybe, sort of.
Depends, though, what kind of attention we're talking about. Is the
main
struggle for these kids their ability to score well on tests? Is the
attention they are getting just more and better test preparation?
If that's the case, more attention might not be such a wonderful thing.
If
they are getting more attention paid to what they want to learn and how
they learn best, and if they are being given assistance and resources
that
help them accomplish their own goals, that would be a very good thing.
