Re: Study on HST and Dropouts
Bill, all New York ARNers and others:
Mark your calendar for Thursday February 6 at 6:30 pm.
Meeting of anti-HSTers to be held in Plattsburg, NY at Plattsburg State
University.
It will be held in the Ballroom of the College Center.
State Senator Betty Little is scheduled to attend.
Senator Little represents the Albany area.
All inquires should be made to Peg McCartney via the ARN network.
As has been the case right along, there are many individual pockets of folks
working in the anti-HST movement. One needs to coordinate them into a
collective force with structure, a plan and a news letter.
The message must be made public in a big way or the cause is lost.
Today, on nationwide television, President Bush complimented the New York
State Education Department and by extension its Commissioner for being one
of the first 5 states to develop a plan for implementing the NCLB Education
Act policies of testing, testing, and testing.
This was difficult for me to listen to knowing full well the thousands of
students who are being left behind because of New York's policy of one size
fits all.
Please, we must act soon.
Thank you for your efforts and interest on behave of the children of New
York State.
Joe Bo
