In a political context, the kind of visual you use depends as much as
the effect you want to create as on the magnitude of the number.

Hello Colleagues and Fellow Resisters:

What percentage of 1,400,000 is 500?

That question will soon become relevant to the national debate on high
stakes 
testing and the limits of the tyrannical power of school districts over
those 
of us who dissent. I expect to have more to say on this type of
arithmetic by 
Thursday or Friday, but I wanted y'all to be the first working the
puzzle.

Please take the time to figure out the answer to the question above and
I'll 
get back to you later this week on why it's relevant to the
resistance.

I'd also like a suggestion on how to render that ratio of those two
numbers 
on a graph of some kind, since I will have to represent them that way
for 
discussion purposes soon.
