Re: global awareness: do numbers mean anything ?

Perish the thought that people work. What is this world coming to? And all because of George Bush and the Business Roundtable.

Jerry:

You just called out the lie that Ronald Reagan and Bush 1 started when they
mentioned looking at classified ads and seeing plenty of jobs.

This primary, the two key Florida issues were economy and immigration.
Education didn't even make the top 10, and yet, the economy and immigration are

intimately related to the education picture. For the first time, employers(
and not even small ones, but people representing Big Sugar, Disney and
Wal-Mart) come out in favor of workers to pick fruits and work in tourist
industry,
hospitals and retail, the jobs you are referring to.

Is this the "hope" that politicians talk about when they promise the rosy
future of getting them elected? Most immigrants I know work three to four
jobs. Does their "superior" education allow them the privilege of jobs "most
people cannot stand" ? What does our education motivate our young people to do
? Get an MBA, join the Alabama Guard and run a baseball team ? What a value
!!! What compassion !!!
