Thank you Quan! I'm curious what Kozol might have had to say when you raised
this concern?
Again, I completely understand his passion for inner city schools.

In a message dated 1/3/2008 12:50:27 P.M. Eastern Standard Time,
taunar@plateautel.net writes:
While I have no doubt its consequences are felt much more profoundly in
those schools (and they have my deepest sympathy), the law's injustices,
along with its destructive and demoralizing effects, are experienced in
countless schools all over the nation, even in small communities such as
my
own.
I wish that he would not (inadvertently) diminish the harm that has been
caused all over the nation while at the same time rightly stressing that
these effects are felt most profoundly in the poor inner city schools.
Tauna:
You are absolutely right about the devastation to small rural
communities.
I asked him about this and shared with him my background in auditing all
Florida schools and made the same comment you did ref all schools. His
experience with inner city schools is what gives him the passion. In all
fairness, we
have many other listserv members who carry the same passion and have the
same eloquence, including you, Tauna. We all have to remember to speak
up and
not buy in to the expert myth. A day in a classroom is one more day
given and
dedicated to our children with the depth, faith and care which
politicians,
businessmen and evaluators do not possess. It is our responsibility to
educate them, and not this way around. As Monty pointed out, it's a good
thing
for JK to speak to TK.
