'data-driven' decision making - articles needed

That phrase is all the rage these days. As if teachers did not use 'data' before. And of course too often all it means now is using test scores in multiple ways (if not adding more tests). Which means using someone on high's idea of data to make decisions in line with those already made on high - boosting test scores.

But, refinements in using info and thinking better about info one has is important. Its why high quality formative assessment is so powerful when used well.

A colleague of mine wanted to know about good short critical articles of the current popular versions of 'data driven decision making' - needed for some looming policy discussion in which she is facing off against those who do reduce that concept to the manipulations and uses of test scores.
