The NAACP petitioned federal court to enforce the "letter and spirit" of NCLB not because it believes that NCLB is perfect or that it does everything that should be done for poor and mnority children and their schools, but because, for the first time in American history, it puts teeth into a requirement that states improve their schools. NAACP's position on NCLB is realistic, unlike the hysterical and paranoid objections to NCLB you and others continually promulgate on this list. Why you continue to torture reason, experience, and logic in continuing this silliness is beyond me. You dishonor yourself and the profession of education and do a disservice to children and parents, particularly those who most desperately need improved schools.
