Re: Not Art's NAACP: disgrace or amazing grace ? faith or faux

Dear Mr. Burke:

The only hysteria I seem to see on this list is yours. If you listen better than may be you would not need anger management within your echo chamber. Please spare us the silliness of tying yourself into knots and beating yourself up. It's unbecoming of someone your age.

The hysterical tone on this list reflects the diminished status of those who claim that NCLB is a stealth plot to privatize public education or that it wreaks genocide against poor and minority children. The NAACP petitioned federal court to enforce the "letter and spirit" of NCLB not because it believes that NCLB is perfect or that it does everything that should be done for poor and mnority children and their schools, but because, for the first time in American history, it puts teeth into a requirement that states improve their schools.

NAACP's position on NCLB is realistic, unlike the hysterical and paranoid objections to NCLB you and others continually promulgate on this list. Why you continue to torture reason, experience, and logic in continuing this silliness is beyond me. You dishonor yourself and the profession of education and do a disservice to children and parents, particularly those who most desperately need improved schools.
