Seven Democratic candidates for president and one Republican candidate addressed the NEA's Representative Assembly last week. Summaries, videos and I think the speeches are now availabel at http://www.nea.org/index.html - that's the NEA home page, and once this material moves I am not sure where it will be.

The Democrats all blasted the harmful consequences of the law - too much testing, teaching to the test, narrowing curriculum, etc.

I have not read the full speeches to see if there are any details on what they actually proposed.

Three of the Dems are on the Senate ed comm - Clinton, Dodd and Obama; and Kucinich is on the House ed comm. What any of them will do re: specific legislation in committee I do not know. They are more on the hot seat than the others who don't have to vote in committee (Biden is in Senate).
