Re: EPATA CALL-IN
The following editorial from WAPO shows how the system works against
the interests of parents and kids. NCLB is the best hope for many of
them. That's what people should call in about. Lots of luck with your
loony crusades trying to convince people that NCLB is about turning
over public education to the Business Roundtable or about making money
for testing companies. You and FairTest are on the wrong side of an
important civil rights battle. Simple as that.

Anne Arundel school officials couldn't be bothered to find room for a
program that works.

A PIONEERING KIPP charter school may have to close down in Anne Arundel
County. Not because it failed students and not because parents were
disaffected but because it couldn't find space for its thriving
program. That county school officials sat on their hands until it was
too late speaks to the antipathy many traditional educators have for
charter schools. The losers will be minority and low-income children.

EPATA NATIONAL CALL-IN DAY IS TODAY!
Hello, everyone. I thank everyone for their input. Today is a day to
call,
email, and fax in letters just
stating your experiences with NCLB's impact on our kids:
Today, JULY 10th, will be a call in day to Congressman George Miller
and Senator
Kennedy’s offices. We need to all let them know that NCLB is damaging
and that
it is not working. DON'T FORGET THAT KENNEDY
LIVES ON THE EAST COAST. Call early for him.
Miller: (925) 602-1880 or (510) 262-6500 or (707) 645-1888 or (202)
225-2095
Kennedy: (202)224- 4543 or (617) 565-3170 or (877) 472-9014
I will try to contact other national groups we can make this a national
day of action! WE NEED ALL OF YOU.
Thanks,
Joseph Lucido
