Susan Ohanian called attention to the NYT ad. Richard Moore has provided a link to the original. It apparently was created by Christopher H. Pyle, a professor of politics at Mount Holyoke. If you Google on that name, you'll find some disturbing things, not about Pyle but about the government.

He is part of, maybe founder of, the Bill of Rights Defense Committee's People's Campaign for the Constitution, www.bordc.org. He worked with Sam Ervin during the Watergate years.
