Teresa,
I just read your post as a part of Judi's (my email has been down for a day
so never got your original post). I'm glad you're checking with a lawyer
about your rights. In California, any employee who is being discussed in
closed session can request that the session be held in the open and we, as a
board, would have to comply. We have a pretty strict open meeting law in
California so it could be very different in NC, but I would still check. It
seems really odd that you wouldn't be able to respond to any "charges" that
were brought against you. But as I said, I'm not familiar with NC law.

Keep the faith - if you can.

Karen Canty

Where is your union in all of this? I can't believe they wouldn't give
you legal support. Also, there's got to be something in the ed code
about how to treat teachers--like give them warnings or whatever...
what does your grievance procedure say? what about rallying the
parents, kids and your colleagues?
Judi
