Eric just brought home his 2nd grade running time. I had him do just the
quarter mile,
everybody else had to do 1 mile in their street clothes, timed. He's mostly
in the 25th percentile, which if it were in academics would make him "at
risk".

Note the letter says "we need to do this to establish a baseline for future
standards".

If this were the WASL, we'd be testing for what we expect them to do 15
years from now, not based on "meaningless" percentiles. <<runmile.efx>>

Since last year, I've run across several students who claim it's quite
routine in many schools, and as many teachers and parents who think
it's completely nuts.
