Dear BHRP folks:
In Friday's Birmingham News, there was a short blurb on page 2C of the Metro
section. It states that Timothy Harrison, 16, was shot and died in Gate
City. The report said he, "was a student at Woodlawn High School until April
1999, said Allen Lewis, principal of Woodlawn High School. Harrison was
withdrawn in April for the Kennedy Alternative Program, Lewis said. 'Anytime
a young person that has not yet begun to live is killed, it is a tragedy,'
Lewis said."
We track students in school at an early age. We withdraw them when they turn
16. We incarcerate them. We bury them.
We have got to stop this inhumanity NOW!
