"A Family Of Many Nations " by local film maker Todd Coughlin Premiere screening June 7th and 14th 1:00 pm Des Moines Cinema 22333 Marine View Dr S Des Moines, WA. The film has recently drawn the interest of the N.Y. Film Festival and PBS. The project focuses on poverty, language acquisition and diversity in education. Although the project is not about the WASL, we show how ineffective a tool the WASL is for measuring success. We are going to have an informal talk on the WASL at the June 7th screening. Anti- WASL activist Juanita Doyon will be speaking-- and will have buttons, t-shirts, etc... available. This will be the kick-off for production of a new Anti- WASL documentary which we plan to distribute nationally.
