Testing Specialist, Department of Accountability, $52,862-$84,597

Qualifications: Master's Degree; minimum of 5 years successful teaching or
administrative experience; excellent oral and written communication skills;
ability to interact positively with teachers and administrators; advanced
proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; evidence of organizational and
analytical skills; experience querying databases, knowledge of test
measurement theories, and the ability to work on multiple projects
concurrently. The primary responsibility is to work with staff members to
manage the Virginia State Assessment System (SOL and Alternate Assessment) and
other divisionwide testing. Sample essential tasks include
distributing/collecting materials, preparing written communications, training
school test coordinators, analyzing testing data and presenting results,
facilitating SOL retake, online, and expedited testing, and providing staff
development on assessment matters in the schools. VBCPS applicants: submit
Transfer Data Sheet and copy of current resume to Dept. of Accountability,
Attn: Diane N. Jones, with a copy to Human Resources, Attn: Michael Maloney.
Non-VBCPS applicants submit VBCPS application, letter of interest, and current

Requires Master's Degree (doctorate preferred) and 3 years successful
experience as a school administrator or comparable level of professional
experience in the areas of responsibility. Applicant must have experience
beyond university coursework requirements in educational program evaluation,
qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, and survey
development and validation. Experience must include advanced work with Excel,
Access, and SPSS. Strong report writing and project management skills
necessary. Knowledge of test measurement theories beneficial. Primary
responsibilities include: designing, conducting, and reporting results of
program evaluations; working collaboratively with other departments on matters
of assessment and evaluation; working with the design, validity and
reliability of assessment instruments; collecting, organizing, interpreting,
and reporting divisionwide accountability data, and designing and conducting
surveys. VBCPS applicants: submit Transfer Data Sheet and copy of current

assessment, information technology, statistics, psychology, or a highly
related field with 3 years successful experience in the areas of
responsibility. Applicant must have strong project management skills, the
ability to organize multiple concurrent tasks, and the skills to create
complex queries to extract and relate data. Advanced skills required in the
use of Excel, Access, SPSS, SQL, and in working with a large-scale database
management system. Experience in an educational setting desirable, and
knowledge of testing theories and psychometric procedures beneficial. Strong
oral and written skills required. Primary responsibilities include extracting,
analyzing, and reporting educational data from relational databases to provide
support for the effective use of student performance information in
decision-making processes. Additional responsibilities include working
collaboratively with other professionals on matters of assessment, research,
and evaluation to support division needs. VBCPS applicants: submit Transfer
