Joe Bo ... Remember that charter schools are not particular kinds of
schools, the way Ford is a particular kind of car and Sears is a particular kind of
retail store. Charter schools can be very different from one another and, in
fact, encouraging differences is one of the theoretical justifications for
charter schools. The theory for charter schools itself is simple enough:
There are people within and outside public education who have innovative ideas
about organizing and running schools; public schools should put innovative
ideas into practice; parents and kids should be able to choose such schools;
and public authorities should exercise due diligence in regard to such schools.
Now in answer to your question about enrollment: Charter schools are
supposed to be open in the same way as other public schools. Are charter schools
picking the better blueberries? Some probably are. But so too some of the
better blueberries are probably picking charter schools

I am not ignoring you Art, I just don't follow your question.
also, I don't have enough understanding of the whole mess of charter
schools.
If they are the run the same as public schools, what makes them better?
Whatever is is, let's "bottle it" and work it into our public schools, eh?
Something is missing from my understanding the whole issue, I am sure.
However, . . . public charter, public funds, public kids so what makes them
better.
I don't think we should fight them, we should embrace their ways if they are
so good.
Big question is do they take all comers or are they like the ice cream
factory
making the best blueberry ice cream because it discards those berries not
up to par?
