"No Child Left Behind" means "no child left behind." This means that a
school can be designated as needing improvement if students in one group, say,
special education students, fail to make AYP.
The schedule for school improvement is as follows:
Year 1 - No AYP
Year 2 - No AYP
- Start of year 3, school is identified for improvement
Year 3 - No AYP
- Start of year 4 schools is in second year of improvement
Year 4 - No AYP
- Start of year 5 school is required to take corrective action
Year 5 - No AYP
- Start of year 6 school is required to develop plan for
restructuring
Year 6 - No AYP
- Start of year 7 school must be restructured.
So, as I said, restructuring takes place after six consecutive years of
failure to make AYP.

I was going to pretend that I didn't read Art's response to my email, but as
is his talent, he pushed the button. I just need to have the last word on
why my school is in restructuring. IT IS because of the disabled subgroup,
not, as he says, because we failed to make progress in 6 years. I don't have
access to the records before 2002-2003, but that is when we were put into
this planning for restructuring category, and if you care to look, you will
see that 2 out of 19 categories were not met, and those 2 categories are
reading and math for the disabled subgroup.
