Your school was restructured after six consecutive years of failing to make
AYP (unless your department of education accelerated the process specified in
NCLB). Either way, AC did not just invade your school unannounced and
uninvited. Your DOE assessed your school's history and its needs and decided
that AC would work well for your school's children. You yourself say that it
is helping.
However, you clearly have issues with the decision to restructure, for which
you blame NCLB. Here's a strategy suggested by Campbell's report of a
conversation with a NAAP laywer: Go into federal court and argue that your state
should enforce the letter and spirit of NCLB, even though you really don't
believe that at all. That way you'll get invited to the table to discuss
what's best for children's education. Make sense?
