ASCD circulated a news story about the test boycott in the Bronx (actually a 3-hr 'practice' test used by the test company to try out new items). They posed a few questions and asked for reader responses. I found many quite disheartening - for many respondents, an unwillingness to believe students can act on their own; and perhaps more common, a belief that students should not challenge authority in such a manner. There are also supporters of the students. People may want to read this thread to get a sense of the thinking going on about issues such as student test boycotts. It is hardly a scientific sample, at most a few dozen responses - but worth a bit of pondering. The first page of the blog responses is at
