More from Denny. Remember the #1 justification for standards-based
"education reform"
is closing the racial gap, when Asians are responsible for the
largest gap, and Asians invented goverment quotas against Chinese and
Indians in Malaysia.
NOOOOOOOO one dares mention the Asian white gap when it comes to
test scores or disproportionality, but it's the elephant in the
living room. With affirmative action in place, the Asian-white
gap is as big or larger than the White -Black gap, certainly in
absolute points as well as proportionally.

Subject: Excessive Asians - Fire on Your own Position
Terrific Letter, Arthur..from this excessive Asian. That's telling
them...it is damn silly.
What's also interesting is at U of Calif Berkeley (I'm sure you
already have ton of statistics on this). Since passage of the
Proposition 209 which stops affirmative action in Col-ee-forn-ee-a and
which forced the UC system to take off the artificial cap against
Asian students.
new freshmen 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001
Asian enrolling 2925 2998 3196 3225 3336
total enrollment8450 8034 8197 8343 8707
35% 37% 39% 39% 38%
In the new 2003 Fall freshman class, Asian Americans now represent 45
percent (the majority) of the population (we only represent less than 12%
of Calif population); white (a minority) students represent about 30
percent; Chicano/Latino students represent 11 percent (32% of total Calif
population and is a moving target, as illegal aliens increases at
alarming rates); students who identify themselves as "other" or who
decline to state their ethnicity represent about 10 percent; African
Americans represent 4 percent (Blacks are 7% of Calif pop) ; and American
Indians represent 0.5 percent. By time of graduation, well over 50% of
the graduating class is Asian.
UC Berkeley is not at parity, even for white, except for Asian.
Meanwhile, while the extreme leftist campus paper, the Daily Californian,
keeps pushing for higher minority numbers, like the article you cited,
this is only for Hispanic and blacks, at well past parity. Asians did
not exist for them. There is no celebration for the extreme high numbers
for Asians....we are not the acceptable diversity they want.
UC system statewide (I only have data for Fall, 2002), it is 32.8% Asian.
Asians also have the highest graduation rates. But like Washington,
many Asians, especially second generation onward, I would suspect, are
firing on their position. I met/know a few second generation Asians,
graduates of the UC system, with this horrible attitude. One of them
work with me, a Chinese named Clayton. He has gone leftish, despite a
UCLA degree in architectural.
What is also funny, was when Californian passed 209, the ACLU went after
it, with tongs and forks (sorry if this sounds like a pun). But guess
who was spearheading it, a Chinese attorney named Ed Chen. He was
definitely directing fire on us Asians.
"We are going to continue to fight for equality. We believe that
affirmative action in certain circumstances is required, is warranted and
is the only way to really achieve true integration in our nation,"
turncoat Chen said.
Chen does not remember that for 75 years, Chinese had the same status as
slaves in this country...no legal right to life, liberty, property,
education. We, as a group, did not whined about it, did not ask for
reparation. We just got up by our own bootstrap....hell, that's not
politically correct, is it? With the repeal of the 75-year old US
Chinese Exclusion Act in 1943, we were finally emancipated!
Jurisprudence representatives Chen and Tu would probably love to have us
Asians enslaved again, just to level their envisioned playing field.
Asian Americans constitute 95% of the top 5% of students in American
colleges and universities. Indicative of most California campuses, Orange
County's highly respected UC Irvine boasts a 52% Asian population. Asian
Americans are twice as likely as whites to have an advanced college
degree.
But it looks like many of us want to shoot ourselves...why should we?
He has risen
Denny
