A consistently good-hearted comic strip with an ongoing story line about a middle class African-American family, JumpStart by Robb Armstrong can be viewed at www.comics.com Joe is a hard-working cop and father. His wife Marcy is a nurse.. Dot is Joe's mother and Sunny is Joe and Marcy's little girl.

The dialogue for Wednesday's strip:

Joe: We give up, Mom! Sunny's homework is so hard we can't figure it out!

Dot: You think I'll be able to do it?

Marcy: You're a retired third grade teacher. Sunny is a third grader. It's perfect!

Dot: I retired back when third grade was taught at a third grade level.

On Thursday, March 18, there's just one panel with eleven adults gathered around an open book. In the corner three children comment, "We can't watch TV until they're done with our homework."

"The whole art of teaching is only the art of awakening the natural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it afterwards."
- Anatole France
