was a classic of the progressive movement in education. Begun before WWII, a number of schools, public and private, were allowed to recommend students to colleges even though they did not follow the standard preparatory methods. The students were tracked in colleges, matched with others who were prepared more traditionally. They did at least as well in college, as far as the study went.
