the link below is for an op ed that appeared in The Minnesota Daily, campus newspaper of the University of Minnesota. The author, Peter Henry, is someone I know electronically from our joint participation in www.dailykos.com, a widely read political blog where I most often write about education.

[he blogs there as Mi Corazon, I blog there and elsewhere as teacherken]

Peter is also the author of a relatively new book entitled "Becoming Mr. Henry" in which he uses his own life an experience as the basis for also offering analysis and commentary on education today -- I found the book well worth the read.

Anyhow, I think many on this list will find things in this opinion piece about which to ponder, although I also expect that there will be some contrary opinions to what Peter has written.
