The Socratic potential of CCS has been generally overlooked in the literature, possibly because of the gross misunderstanding of the Socratic Method by academics (Hake 2004d).

In other words, may provide another rationalization for keeping, or even increasing, large class sizes. Perhaps, after a couple of classes and 8 years and doing "Socratic Seminars" in primary grades, 2nd - 8th grade, I grossly misunderstand the Socratic Method. Perhaps I shouldn't, from a primary perspective, be suspicious. I'm sure that TPTB would never take a large group lecture/respond method used to check listeners' understanding and use it to simulate real discussion, where everyone gets to share and hear others. I'm sure TPTB wouldn't take something like this, and, having declared it successful in universities, move it down to high schools, then middle schools, then primary classrooms. Still, I am. Suspicious, that is.
