Virginia's tests are allegedly criterion-referenced (not). The tests are too
short to be a measure of our standards. We don't rank, as in order from
highest to lowest. We judge schools by the pass rates on the tests. If the
school gets a certain amount of children passing (70%) in each subject area (plus
some Arthur-Anderson type math games), they get to be accredited. Pass fewer
than 70% and you get a different label.
