So that's why all the manufacturing jobs have moved to
China and India! Those highly educated rural and
urban women and children who don't unionize and are
easy to control are so highly educated! I knew it!
Come on. That's the biggest red herring I've heard so
far. Its got nothing to do with education and
everything to do with the bottom line. Share holders
want profits, CEOs want to increase their income
because they are oh so poor.
Rob:

The idiocy of the rationale jumps out at us, until we realize we have been
so dumbed down that we buy into this Reaganesque trickle-down theory which 41,
42, 43 practiced without blinking an eye. I would say there's hope with
Independents until I read my history book which mentions illustartive types like
Perot, Forbes and Nader !!! So far, I don't see any one of the three
candidates running with the ability to improvise an education message from their
corporate-sponsored script.

Allow me to play: so if we adapt NCLB's high standards(they are still yet to
be defined, because they keep moving up and down and around like GW's victory
surge and his Commander-in-chief dance into wall jigs), very soon our
children will become as highly skilled as Chinese and Indians. They will learn not
to speak for themselves, bust their unions, and accept wages commensurate
with their WTO partner countries. Congress could then reduce the minimum wage
so as to return to family value porridge Sunday dinners and true prayer in
lieu of school lunches.

In the meantime, we will usher in a new era of pagan Gods: the God of
Shell, the God of BP, and the most fearsome of them all, the God of Dick Cheney
the Sharpshooter.

May I just add one for the road: can we outsource Art to be the American
expert cultural ambassador to Namibia ? I hear they need one for a new volcano
dedication.
