Asking that discussion list members think before posting is not, I think,
unreasonable; it is not a First Amendment violation. Rather, it is a
responsible action by a list owner who has received a legitimate,
thoughtful complaint about excessive volume.

The situation now in question bears almost no resemblance to the one when
a member was unsubscribed involuntarily. Bombast, libel, name calling,
and character assassination are not and should not be mistaken for debate.
Debate relies on reason, logic, and evidence to persuade readers or
listeners of the truth in an argument.

At any rate, Monty has said that his posting was a suggestion and that no
one is going to be unsubscribed for posting more than twice a day. Let's
just move on and discuss the worthwhile threads already in place which
generasted the spate of messages.
