Gerald, Thank you for your information. I had no idea, and I am sure that most of the people at the conference had no idea. I do know that I got a free dinner, hotel room, and $125 for going . . . Also, some of their practical lessons about how to make standards more relevant in the classroom were quite insightful--despite the scary statistical stuff you brought up. I guess I'll spend this afternoon trying to separate the baby from the bathwater!
